Before you read my report, take a look at the videos that i have recorded on the day of the event.


1. Introduction

1.1 Purpose of Report
The purpose of this report is to evaluate and compare the differences of Worldwide Festival held in both Singapore and Sete. The best practices are also indentified so that lessons could be learnt about the event to make it successful in the future. Stakeholders in the event are also indentified. Lastly, tourism benefits received by the host country because of this event will also be made known.

1.2 Reasons for festival chosen
The reasons why I choose to go for Worldwide Festival is because I love music. I enjoy partying with people and since this event is a music festival whereby different DJs from different country come together to showcase their talent thus I think it is a very good experience for me.

2. Comparison of Similar Festival

2.1 Product
Worldwide Festival is an event held in both Singapore and Sete whereby live music is being played by DJs from all over the world and to be make known to the consumers.

2.2 Place
In Singapore, it is organize at Siloso beach and other various locations such as Singapore Arts Museum, ZIRAC and in various clubs such as Home Club and in Sete, it is only held at Phare Du Mole, at the beach and at Theatre De La Mer. Comparing to Sete, the beach in Singapore is relatively smaller and is restricted by cafe facilities such as sun tanning area that can only be used by their customers.

2.3 Partnership
In Sete, there is joint marketing between the Worldwide Food Fiesta with the Worldwide Festival at Phare Du Mole. The advantage of the joint partnership of Worldwide Food Fiesta and Worldwide Festival is that consumers would be able to enjoy local specialities, product and wine, hence promoting them to the tourist. It would also raise the revenue for the event if some consumers are mainly here for the food but have to purchase a ticket to the event in order to get in.
In Singapore, Food and Beverage stalls such as Bacardi are also being set up so as to allow consumers to purchase food and beverage from them.

2.4 Promotion
Both countries advertise on the main website and also in radio and magazines.
In Singapore, the event is advertised in lifestyle magazines such as Juice and Lifestyle Asia in order to allow consumers who are interested to attend outdoor events to be made known to them. Radio broadcasting also allows the events to be reached out to the mass with its high exposure rate.
Besides reaching out to the consumers by media, price promotions are also given to attract them to purchase their tickets in advance.
In Sete, the event is also advertised in magazines and radios. However, the packages they used to attract visitors are slightly different from Singapore.

2.5 Packaging and Distribution
Sales of event tickets are outsourced in both France and Singapore to FNAC and Gatecrash respectively. In addition, compared to Singapore, Sete works together with Les Agences Confiance so as to allow people who want to travel to Sete for this event to get their tickets and plan their trip at the same time. Both countries hold their event at places that are very popular and unique thus making it worthwhile for consumers to participate and have a different experience of partying.

2.6 Programming
The programs lines up for both Sete and Singapore are quite similar. It usually starts by having an official start of the event and usually end the event at the beach. In addition, DJs from different country will perform at different time of the event thus allowing them equal time to showcase their music talent and to cater to consumers of different nationality.

2.7 People
The main target market for Worldwide Festival in Singapore is mostly tourist and in Sete its target market are both local and tourists. In addition, the way the consumers dress in both countries differ such as people attending Worldwide Festival in Sete are in their beach wear whereas in Singapore, most of them are dress casually in t-shirts and shorts. (Refer to Appendices A and B) Adding to which, there isn’t much people attending the festival in Sentosa in the afternoon compare to Sete. (Refer to Appendices C and D)

Besides the consumers, the crews of the event also have an impact on consumers in whether they would enjoy the event. As such, the crew can be seen to be friendly towards the consumers.

2.8 Price
People going for the Worldwide Festival held in Sentosa have to pay a fee to enter Sentosa in order to attend the event. As a result, consumers would incur extra cost in addition to the ticket fee. However, that is not the case for consumers in Sete attending the event.
In the event, stalls are also set up in order for consumers to purchase food and beverages in case they were hungry. (Refer to Appendices E and F)

3. Best Practices

3.1 Place
I think the places that were chosen for Worldwide Festival in both Singapore and Sete was very good. In Singapore, it was held in places like museum, clubs and at the beach. It is quite unique to hold a music festival at the museum. People usually has the perception that museum is a very quiet place. Thus, by holding Worldwide Festival at the museum, it creates a unique atmosphere that can't be experience in a normal party or club. In addition, the atmosphere of the party is being heightened as it is held on the beach which has a large area for people to party freely.
In Sete, the locations are as equally unique as Singapore. They hold the event at places which are very attractive such that they are surrounded by rocks and sea. Therefore, allowing consumers to party by the sea and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

3.2 Product
The core product of the event is the experience and the enjoyment that consumers would be able to enjoy from the event. Consumers would be able to experience the live music played by DJs from different countries which they would not be able to do so every time. The consumers would also be able to enjoy the companion of the crowd partying.
The augmented product of the event would be the toilets that are available for consumers. Parking lots is also available in certain locations for visitors to park their vehicles.
Tangible product would be the food and beverages in the Worldwide Food Fiesta that are sold to the consumers in the event as mentioned earlier.

3.3 Promotion
In Sete, sales promotion such as product bundling is used. Besides having an individual ticket pass to one place for the event, tickets are also sold in either a 3 days or 4 days pass where consumers are able to go to any place where Worldwide Festival is held during the period. Therefore, it will appeal to people who want to go for the event for 4 consecutive days.

In both Singapore and Sete, a price discount would be given for those that book their tickets in advance hence promoting consumers to get their tickets earlier in order to enjoy the discount.

3.4 People
As mentioned above, a friendly crew is needed for the consumers to enjoy themselves in the event. Photographers can be seen to be taking photographs proactively during the event and would also abide by the consumers request such as taking pictures with the crew.

Interaction between the DJs and the consumers is also necessary for the consumers as the main objective is to listen and enjoy the live music played by the DJs. Hence, with an increase interaction between consumers and DJs, consumers are able to have a complete experience.

5. Main Purpose of Event

The main purpose of this event is to showcase their music talents and to expose people to have a bigger exposure to different types of music from different countries.
It also allows the crowd to party together with people of different ages and indulge themselves in the music of various countries in extraordinary environment.

6. Tourism Benefits

6.1 Political impacts
By hosting this event, it helps attract visitors to Singapore. Therefore, it helps create public awareness. For example, by hosting at Siloso Beach, people get to know about Sentosa. It also creates social cohesion as people from different countries get to party and enjoy together.

6.2 Tourism and Economic impacts
It helps boost economy because inbound tourists who came especially for this event will have to find accommodation and spend money on food and beverages during their stay in Singapore. In addition, they will need to travel within Singapore thus incurring transportation costs.
There would be an increase in sales of entrance fee ticket as a result of visitors having to purchase them in order to enter for the event. This event also helps extending visitors’ length of stay and which would allow them the opportunity to visit other places of interest and shopping centers in Singapore. For example, people who went for the event at Siloso Beach may also visit Vivo City or other attractions in Sentosa. It also helps to increase tax revenue such that tourists who travel from other countries will have to pay for the airport tax. Temporary jobs would also be created for the event.

6.3 Social and Cultural impacts
Visitors will share the entertainment experience by dancing and enjoying the music together. In this way, there would be increased interaction between locals and tourists. By doing so, tourists would be able to broaden their perspective by exposing themselves to our local practices and culture and learn more about our country.
There would also be an increased pride for Singapore as the event is not held globally but in only two places in the world. For Singapore to be able to host this event means that Singapore have a positive image that would attract crowd to come over to attend the event.

6.4 Physical and Environmental impacts
With events being held in Sentosa, there is a need to provide transport convenience to tourist to bring them to their destination. As such, Monorails and trams are available for visitors to have easy access to areas in Sentosa where the event is held at.
